Deposits and withdrawals at Canadian online casinos

Casino withdrawals in Canada go smoothly when you know the steps: how you fund the account, the identity check before your first payout, and what your bank may add. Read the cashier terms before making a payment.

Paying by Interac? Our Interac casinos page goes through what each of the four featured operators' payment policies says for Canada.

From first deposit to first payout

Real money casinos all run on the same loop. You deposit through the cashier with a method it offers. You play from that balance. Before money comes out, you verify your identity if that is not already done, then ask for a withdrawal, which the casino checks before paying.

Every stage has rules of its own. Deposit methods carry lower and upper amounts. Verification requires documents. Payouts may need to return through the method you paid in with. Knowing all this ahead of time spares you a lot of irritation, above all when you want to cash out.

Casino deposit methods in Canada

Interac e-Transfer

Interac draws directly on your bank account and works in Canadian dollars through your own online banking. Each of the four featured brands on BetNook lists Interac for Canada in its payment policy. The Interac casinos page has the specifics.

Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard)

Casinos take credit and debit cards widely, yet some Canadian banks and issuers refuse gambling payments as a matter of policy. A declined card may reflect your bank's rule, not the casino's. Payouts to cards are not always possible, so look at the withdrawal list as well.

Prepaid vouchers

Paysafecard, Neosurf and similar vouchers let you fund an account without handing over bank details. At the four featured brands, the payment policies list Neosurf for UK, Ireland, Canada, Norway only. Vouchers usually cannot receive payouts, so plan on a second method for withdrawals.

E-wallets

MuchBetter, Payz (previously ecoPayz), Skrill and Neteller sit between your bank and the casino and hold a balance of their own. They are handy, but read the promotion rules before paying in with one. All four featured brands' published welcome terms say: Excluded Skrill and Neteller deposits.

Bank-connected services

Instadebit, iDebit and services like them link to your Canadian bank account and pass payments to the casino on your behalf. Whether a site offers them differs from one casino to the next, so look in the cashier.

Wire transfer

A few casinos accept payments straight from your bank by wire, generally for bigger sums. Expect them to take longer, and your bank may charge a fee.

Keeping everything in Canadian dollars

When you register, look at which currency the account uses. With a CAD account and a Canadian method such as Interac, nothing needs converting. With an account in a different currency, or a card or wallet held in one, your bank or provider may convert the money going in and again coming out, and you can lose a little each time. The featured operators' country lists show Canadian-dollar pricing for Canada. At the partner casinos, confirm the currency on the sign-up form and in the cashier.

Keep a simple log of what you pay in and take out, in Canadian dollars. Nothing shows more plainly what a month of play has cost.

Casino withdrawals in Canada: what holds them up

Most banking complaints arise at the cash-out stage, and three causes account for nearly all of them.

Identity checks before a first payout. A casino has to know who you are before it can pay you. If you ask for a withdrawal before verifying, the request sits until you do. Send sharp, readable documents early on.

The operator's review. Every withdrawal request is reviewed before money leaves. While it waits, some casinos let you reverse the request and keep playing with the funds, which is best avoided if you mean to cash out.

Payouts follow the deposit route. Where it can, a casino tends to pay you back through the method you deposited with. Deposit by voucher and you will have to pick something else for the payout.

You will not find payout times or fees on this page.

Why we do not name a "fastest payout" casino

People use "best payout casino" in two senses: the site that sends money quickest, or the site whose games pay back most over the long run. Neither can be ranked honestly by us.

Here is what you can check yourself: that the casino offers a withdrawal method you are able to use; that its terms describe how withdrawals work and any limits on them; that you can complete verification before you need a payout; and that each game's information panel shows its published return figure. Those points tell you more than any speed badge.

Banking at the Casino Rewards partners

At the sixteen Casino Rewards partner casinos on BetNook, look in the cashier for Canadian payment options. The three newer-design sites (Captain Cooks, Golden Tiger and Casino Classic) have no banking FAQ. Each casino's review is linked from the real money casinos shortlist.

Before you pay in: a safety list

  • Pay only with accounts and cards that are in your name.
  • Sign in to your bank on its genuine site, and check the web address first.
  • Keep one-time codes and banking passwords to yourself, even if casino support asks.
  • Look up the cashier's deposit and withdrawal limits before sending money.
  • Complete verification well before you want a payout.
  • Put a deposit limit on your casino account.
  • Stick to the same methods on mobile as on desktop; the phone and tablet play guide explains where the two differ.

Common questions

Which way of paying do Canadian casino players use most?

Interac e-Transfer is the name most Canadians know, since it draws on a Canadian bank account and stays in Canadian dollars. Cards, prepaid vouchers and e-wallets are widespread too. The cashier of each casino shows what that site accepts.

My card was refused by a casino. Why?

Certain Canadian banks and card issuers block gambling payments as policy, regardless of which casino you use. Ask your bank about it, or pick another method from the casino's list.

Is an identity check needed before I can cash out?

In nearly every case, yes. Casinos run these checks, often called KYC, before paying out for the first time, typically asking for photo ID and a proof-of-address document. Getting it done early means your first payout is not held up.

Can my withdrawal go to a different method than my deposit?

Frequently it cannot. Many casinos send payouts back through the method you paid in with whenever that is possible. The cashier and the payment terms set out each site's rules.

Which casino has the quickest payouts?

Identity checks, the casino's own review and your bank all influence how long it takes.

Do casinos charge fees for deposits or withdrawals?

Your bank or payment provider may charge something of its own, so check with them.
